Indian Wells is the smallest of the Coachella Valley communities with 4,846 residents (2021 census); it’s by far the most affluent population in the valley. The city was incorporated July 1967.  There are many resort hotels, golf courses and luxury residential areas. The large estate homes here are very private, and the country clubs exclusive. This community is truly a playground for the rich and famous.

Several major tennis and golf sporting events are held each year in Indian Wells. The city hosts the fifth largest tennis tournament in the world. It’s presently known as the BNP Paribas Open. Their tennis-specific stadium is currently the second largest in the world. 

In August 2023, the price of an average size detached house in Indian Wells was $1,624,428. For detached homes (condos) it was $762,463. The median household income in 2021 was $120,680.
