
La Quinta, California is the newest resort city in the Coachella Valley, having incorporated in 1982. The city is found close up against the scenic Santa Rosa Mountains, and down valley from Palm Springs. It is one of the fastest growing cities in the Coachella Valley. Currently La Quinta is in the midst of a major expansion program, growing at a rate of 110% every ten years. The city ranks fifth in population statistics for the Coachella Valley. This places it in the middle of the pack with a population of 37,467 residents according to the 2010 census.
La Quinta is presently experiencing significant expansion on all fronts. Growth includes single family housing tracts, large gated golfing communities, and 55+ retirement communities. This community is the location of the very first golf course in the Coachella Valley built in the 1930’s.There are a many new commercial buildings, and shopping centers, requiring the addition of necessary infrastructure to support its growing population. The average housing price of all residential properties in March 2017 was $637,000. Condos now average $357,000 and single family homes $709,000.
