Palm Springs “rolls out” New Recycling Program

During Green Week, it seems appropriate to laud the Palm Springs Disposal Services for improving our recycling program. They are making it ever easier for us to do our part in “greening up” Palm Springs. The PSDS announced recently that beginning June 30th, all recyclables can go unsorted into a new Blue Cart, that comes with wheels to make it easy to move. Blue Carts will be provided free to all subscribers and will be delivered to us streetside during the two week period of June 16 – June 27.

So recycling just got easier! Toss all of your recyclables into the Blue Cart, no need to sort. The new carts go into use on your regular collection day following June 30th. Place curbside for pickup. As to the old recycle bins, they are yours for reuse in any way you would like, or if you wish, simply place curbside on your pickup day and the service will recycle them for you.

In addition, there is an optional Walk-In program (for $4,72/mo.) if you would prefer not to have to place the Blue Cart curbside yourself. Call (760) 327-1351, Ext. 313 to arrange placement of the cart to the location of your choice for both drop off and pickup.

The disposal services can help you dispose of many other things such as antifreeze, batteries, oil and pant. Just visit their web site at Disposal Services with any question or call their 24 hour support line and leave a message at 800 973-3873. Their mottos:  “ReduceReuseRecycle” and, “Trash. . . is what we do.”

Let’s all do our part to help Palm Springs go green!
