In Celebration of Robert Burns and Golf

The first annual Scottish Golf Tournament at Porcupine Creek is scheduled to tee off on Saturday, January 26, 2008 in Rancho Mirage. The tournament will benefit The Palm Springs Pipe Band. It’s also a celebration of the birthday of Scotland’s favorite son, Robert Burns, who was born on that date in 1759.

Given that the game of golf can trace its origins to the old course at St. Andrews in Scotland, and that we pride ourselves in being a major golfing destination, it is only fitting that we have such an event.

Participation in the tournament is limited to 36 entrants and will cost $1000 per person. The fee will include a breakfast, a round of golf on one of the valley’s most beautiful private golf courses, followed by a luncheon, all surrounded by lots of bagpipe music featuring the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Pipe Band playing the “Sounds of Scotland”. The participants need not be of Scottish heritage.
